A Japanese thinking:terror attack in Paris
I usually write articles in Japanese, but writes this article in English because I want to people in the world to see this article.
私はいつも記事を日本語で書きますが、今回は世界の人々にも見て欲しいので英語で書きます。

Last week, there was synchronized terrorist attacks in France.
先週、フランスで同時多発テロが起きました。
Allow me to offer my sincere condolences to the victims and his/her family.
犠牲者の方、遺族の方にはお悔やみを申し上げます。
Such a thing is an occurrence which should never happen.
このようなことはあってはならない悲惨な出来事です。
But, I feel a sense of incongruity to two occurrences after that.
しかし、この後の2つの対応に違和感を覚えました。
1. Western countries, including Japan, support airstrikes in Syria.
1.西側諸国(日本を含む)がシリアへの空爆を支援していること
2. Profile pictures of almost all Japanese are the Tricolor.
2.日本のFacebookがトリコロール一色であること
About 1, I feel that a war comes again.
まず1.について、私は戦争の再来に思えます。
Even if we cannot have a conversation with IS, airstrikes by Western countries kill not only IS soldiers but also private citizens in Syria.
いくらISが話の出来ない相手だからとはいえ、空爆によりシリアの民間人を殺しているのです。
By now, there has been a fact that invasion operations to Iraq by the US killed Iraqi private citizens, but such a fact isn’t broadcasted in Western countries.
今までにも、アメリカのイラク侵攻で民間人が殺されているという報道がありますが、こういった報道は西側諸国ではほとんど放送されません。
When we think other regions, we should never forget that there would be many private citizens, most of which are women and children, even if the regions don’t belong to Western countries.
他の地域を見るときに多くは女性や子どもである民間人の存在を、たとえ西側諸国に属していなくても忘れてはならないと思います。
As I watched the movie of the airstrikes in Syria today, I remembered the movie of bombing in Tokyo from 1942 to 1945.
今日の空爆の映像を見た時、私は太平洋戦争でアメリカ軍が日本に行った関東大空襲の映像を思い出しました。
I am worried that there might be wars in the world again.
アメリカを恨むつもりは全くありませんが、また戦争が起きてしまうのかと私は不安でなりません。
About 2.
2.について。
I have a question that profile pictures of almost all Japanese are the Tricolor.
Facebookがトリコロールのプロフィール画像で埋めつくされていますが、私はこれに疑問をいだきます。
Isn’t it a point of view from Western countries? Facebook is a company in the US.
これは西側諸国だけの立場ではないのか？Facebookはアメリカの企業です。
I don’t criticize that one who has thought much changes his/her profile picture in Tricolor,
いろいろ考えたうえでのトリコロールを批判するつもりはありませんが、
but I think that it is the way to world peace for us to be considerate not only to us but also to others.
お互いを思いやっていくのが平和での道であると思います。
We Japanese should have sympathy not only for the French but also for the private citizens in Syria who killed by airstrikes.
フランスの亡くなった方だけでなく、シリアで亡くなった民間人の両方にお悔やみを申し上げるべきではないでしょうか。
By the way, what can Japanese do?
さて、では日本人の私たちは何ができるのでしょうか。
I propose the following things.
私は2つのことを提案したいです。
1. Live as normally as before.
1.いつものように暮らす
2. Asian countries act as mediators.
2.アジア諸国が架け橋となる
About 1.
1.について。
Various people from Europe, the Middle East, and so on come to Japan.
日本にはヨーロッパから、中東から、様々な人が来ています。
It is discriminative for Japanese to be suspicious of people from the Middle East.
このようなときに、中東から来た人を怪しむのは差別的です。
I want Japanese to be peaceful in mind, because Japan is peaceful.
平和な日本で有るからこそ、心も平和であって欲しいです。
A small thing can cause a war.
小さなところから戦争は起こりえます。
About 2.
2.について。
It seems that this opposition is the opposition between the Western and the Middle East.
今回の対立構造は、西側諸国、中東といった対立構造に私は見えます。
I don’t want to decide which is bad.
どっちが悪いということではありません。
For peace in the world, 3 countries, China, Korea, and Japan, which are between the Western and the Middle East and play important parts in the world, should cooperate with each other and make effort for peace.
世界が平和になるために、西側と中東の間の国であり世界に占める役割も大きい中国、韓国、日本の3国が協力して間に入って平和をもたらす努力が必要だと感じます。
Because of my bad English, I might cause a misunderstanding of my intentions.
But I emphasize at least that peace won’t come if all the people in the world make effort to peace.
拙い英語のため、誤解を与える表現があるかもしれませんが、
私が少なくとも主張したいのは、「皆が平和への努力をしなければ平和はもたらされない」ということでした。
